In cases where in-situ Raman characterizations demand exceptionally high testing standards, a relatively short focusing distance may be necessary. To achieve this, a detachable L-shaped disc electrode can be utilized to adjust the distance between the surface material of the working electrode and the quartz plate. This electrode can achieve a minimum distance of 0.5mm. DekResearch provides two disc-mounted electrodes that can replace PEEK platinum electrode clamps. These electrodes consist of a φ6mm glassy carbon electrode and a φ4mm gold disk electrode.

The insulation rod for the φ6mm glassy carbon electrode is composed of a PEEK rod with a Teflon isolation ring. The glassy carbon disc is separated from the PEEK insulation material by the Teflon isolation ring. The hydrophobic properties of the Teflon material lead to an increase in the surface tension of the solution, which can prevent the solution sample on the electrode surface from spreading to the surrounding area. This is advantageous for achieving a well-modified electrode surface.

Choosing φ6mm glassy carbon as the substrate is also considering that more materials can be modified to facilitate the final laser Raman spectroscopy characterization test.

To enable the electrode tip to pass through the working electrode hole via the φ35mm window and conduct electricity, it is essential to design the electrode as a detachable structure with a threaded connection. This allows the electrode to be screwed onto the electrode rod securely. Additionally, it is important to ensure that the screw connection is located outside the O-ring after tightening to prevent the electrolyte from coming into contact with the connection.
